21st : Thanks Dad, Thanks Mom…

The sad truth is out. I failed my examination. Mom, Dad, I am so sorry. Both of you had so much faith in me. I have let both of you down. I didn’t have the courage to tell you the results before, but I did anyway.

“Failure is your road to success.” says my dad.

“At least now you know what to expect for your supplementary test.”  says my mom. Worrying that I will be bored this weekend, She even asks me to go catch Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ movie.

I broke down after spoking to you. It felt good.

Gosh… I should have told you earlier….

You still have faith in me. You still have confidence in me. I expected the worse, but you gave me the best. You gave me hope. I feel much better now. I will make up for this. This is just a small set back. I will bounce back.

Thank you Dad, Thank You Mom… Love you both…

20 : I want to return to my old self..

Results are out and it is not good. What the hell is wrong? Ever since i entered MMU, my results have been going downhill. Is it because I don’t study enough? I understood my lessons. I understood when I did revision. However, everything is for nothing when I enter the exam hall.

I never felt this way before.

I have been looking back at my High School days. In the past, I would look forward to seeing my results. I would see how good my results were. Not how bad they were. I would look to see if I had once again landed in top spot in my class. I would be invited to award ceremonies time and time again.

When the school wanted to look for students to represent them, they will turn to me, again and again. Everytime there was a major examination, they would label me as ‘high potential’ , ‘target student’. All those stuff. And I delivered, every time.

I was that good. Seriously.

Now, everything is the other way around. Now, I wish that there was no such thing as results. My legs would grow weak when it was results time. Previously, people would admire my results. Now, I admire people’s results. I am fighting to survive. So far, I am winning. Barely.

I must get back to the way I was.

This is not me.

I cant stay like this.

I won’t stay like this.

19 : Sunway trip

New semester has started. Freaking fast. Yet, the results aren’t released yet. Super slow. This semester is crunch time. Need to work harder so that I don’t struggle like last time.

Nevertheless, we still need to play! Work hard, play harder… I like that.

So, me, together with Wei Keong, Jan Fei, Kim San and Yi Yong went to Sunway, all because I said I wanted to sit roller-coaster… Literally…

Exactly one week ago, on the 20th October, was play time!!

Sad to say, Sunway Lagoon never felt so boring before. After riding a couple of rides, we were out of ideas. I even went into the scream park, the last thing I thought I would ever do there.

Poor Yi Yong. Most of the ‘ghosts’ in the scream park only targeted her, leaving me nearly frightened-less. Phew… Still, I was scared. Kudos to Yi Yong too. She was brave. Leading the way for me at some points. Haha…

I kept my CyberShot and Handycam in the locker for most of the time we were in Sunway Lagoon. So, not many pictures. I can’t upload videos too, because my Handycam records in AVCHD or something. Hard to convert, and very big in size.

18th : I see Stars!!!

I like the way they designed that logo. Clever!

Yesterday, Me and my dad took a 15 minute drive to the Royal Johor Country Club to witness the Iskandar Johor Open Golf Championship 2009. Golf isn’t the biggest sport around here, neither is it my favourite sport, but I know about it because my dad is a avid fan, and regular player.

DSC02325The reason I chose to watch is because the player field included some world class players/famous personalities such as,

– Retief Goosen (World number 19)

– KJ Choi (Most Successful Asian male player)

– Ben Leong (Malaysia’s future golf star)

It is not everyday that these stars come to my ‘Backyard’. So it was a great chance to get real close to these celebrities.

DSC02362This year sees a 100% increase in total prize money over last year’s competition. A cool 1 million compared to last year’s 500 thousand (USD). The winner will take home US$158,500 while the runner-up will have to settle with US$108,500. 3rd place to 65th place finishers will also take home a share of  that US$ 1mill.

When I got there at 2pm, almost half the field have already finished their game. We missed South Korean KJ Choi. However, we were just in time to catch South African world number 19 Retief Goosen for his Tee-Off.

"The Goose" at work

In case you didn’t know, the guy above is one of golf’s elite, with 42 professional wins. 2 of which came from winning the prestigious US Open. At one point, he was ranked as high as 3rd in the world rankings. He stayed in the top 10 for more than 250 weeks between 2001 to 2007. He was part of the “Big Five Era” The “Big Five Era” is used in describing the era in golf where Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, and Phil Mickelson dominated the game of golf. The five switched up and down the top five positions in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Thailand's THAWORN WIRATCHANT. One of Aisa's notable players.

Play stopped at around 3.30pm as the thunder and lighting got intense. Rain fell heavily shortly after. That spelled the end of our trip.

At one point, I managed to grab Goosen’s attention. I was pointing my camera at him, trying to get a shot of his face, and he saw me. He waved towards me, asking me to put my camera away. It might not be for a good reason, but HE WAVED AT ME!!! Haha…

17th : Molek Boys Returns…

It has been long time since the last post. No time, cause, I have been spending all my free time at home with a GAME!!! I just completed it though. Infinite Undiscovery for the Xbox 360 was that game. I give it a 6 out of 10. It was quite tedious, having need you to run around a lot. But the game had a good enough storyline to keep me interested. Handkerchiefs were needed at some points. Haha… Battle system was good too. Simple, fun and unrepetitive. Worth the time.

On the 18th Oct, Me and my Molek Boys (and 2 girls) went for Holiday! Had a fantastic outing to Teluk Ramunia. Everything, from the beach to the RM333 lunch, was great. Totally worth the sunburns that I am suffering from now! Teluk Ramunia is at the south-eastern part of Johor, past Desaru beach. It took us 2 hours to get there and another 2 hours to get back.

Guess whats that...

Guess whats that...

Upsy-Daisy

It has been 2 years since our last trip way back in 2007. Felt great to be back together again.

16th : Nokia N97 Mini.

Nokia finally spilled the goods! They have announced the release date for its highly anticipated N97 Mini. 23 October!!. However, this is for those in the UK. No word on local availability yet. Booo…. Nevertheless, it still gives me an idea rough idea when it will reach Malaysian shores. Here a look at this sexy little device.

Cool video. Liked the way the Mini appears from behind its elder brother. Haha. Like the music too.
I am so getting Facebook when I get my hand on one of these.

Why am I so excited about this? That’s because I plan on buying one! Initially, I planned to get the Samsung INNOV8. Samsung’s last generation flagship. Same generation as the Nokia N96. Why I choose ‘Last Generation’? Because ‘Last-Generation’ will generally spell cheaper prices. Being a flagship device, it outdates less quickly. So, i get a good phone for less. Smart leh… Haha…

However, Samsung’s INNOV8 was such a good phone, it stood the test of time. Although its now ‘Last-Generation’, it still costs a bomb. Much more than I expected. When new, the 16GB model costs RM2700. Now, based on quotes from a friend, approximately RM2200. Just RM500 dropped in a year? No small feat. I expected it to be around RM 1500. Haiz.

Saw that? It even has a mouse!

I am a Samsung fan. I once said hat my next phone will be a Samsung. Plus, I liked the INNOV8 a lot. Possibly the best phone one could get. So, even the high price wasn’t enough to deter me from aiming for the INNOV8.

Until one day. I saw the price for Nokia’s N97. RM2480 was its recommended retail price. RM2480 for a full-fledged smartphone? It was a bargain. To put things into perspective, The HTC Touch Pro2, HTC’s equivalent to the N97, costs RM3200. Nokia’s deal was so sweet.

Amazingly, even that wasn’t enough to sway my attention away from the INNOV8. Until Nokia unleashed its N97 Mini. As the name suggests, its a N97, minimised. Nokia took all the goodness of the N97 and squeezed it into a smaller package! Cool! Nokia didn’t only shrink the phone, they even shrunk the Pirce Tag! Romours has it that it will cost around the region of RM1500. Mega Ultra Sweet.

It hurts me to switch to Nokia, but this deal is irresistible. So, N97 mini, here I come… Haha…

Update : Last week when I was at Sunway Pyramid, I made a visit to the Nokia store there. There was a N97 mini on display. I asked about the local release date. That guy said 31 October. Woo… Cant wait… RRP : RM2350

15th : Its over.

Finally. Its over. Semester one of my degree is now the past. Sat for my final paper this morning. Engineering Mathematics 1 was the subject. Last night was easily one of the worse nights of my life. Stayed up till wee hours to prepare for this freaking paper.

Passing is my objective. Now that’s over, I can look forward to a beautiful 2 weeks break. Relief! All that is left to do now is CHILL OUT. Oh ya… So begins the dreadful wait for my results.

I had chance to really give my newly bought iPod a good listen. I put it on shuffle while studying last week, and discovered a very nice song hidden in the far reaches of my iPod Mine you, my iPod has 4900+ songs in it. Lots of which I have yet to listen to. Hehe… Thought I’d share it.

Its a beautiful ballad sung by Korean singer, Younha. Its called “Peace, Love & Ice Cream.” Nice name huh… Sounds so sweet and harmonious. Its a cover song originally sung by Sandy Dane. Younha’s version is in Korean while the original is in English. Both versions are great.

I prefer Younha’s version even though I don’t understand a word she is singing. To me, Younha sounds softer and sweeter. She is just awesome. Haha… See for yourself. Give it a listen! Who do you think sung nicer?

Also, check this out. Not only can she sing in Korean, but also in English AND Japanese fluently. Haven’t yet fell in love with Younha? Maybe you will after seeing this. Haha…

In case you are wondering, No, Younha doesn’t just cover other people’s songs. She has her own albums. 4 in Korean, 2 in Japanese. All credit to Sandy Dane too. She wrote a great song coupled with a beautiful acoustic melody.

I don’t know why, but i just have this urge to mention this… Younha is great, but Utada Hikaru IS GREATER!!! Haha… That felt good….

14th : Exams Sucks.

Half way through my final exams for this semester, and its already a nightmare. Not to mention, the worse is yet to come. The campus has practically became my second home. I spend almost, sometimes more than 10 hours there everyday, studying. I only come home to sleep.

Even with this much effort, the results don’t always reflect this. I now only wish that everything I do will help me get through this ordeal scathe free. All I want is to pass and enter semester 2, so that I can start everything over again.

My mom, she unexpectedly skype-d me just now. Her exact words :

“your exam is quite tough, hope you can cope, this is only your first year, you can do it, you are a very discipline son, you know what to do, we are very proud of you.”

Her words raised my spirits. A real confidence booster. It looks like when everything seems down, I can always look at my parents for motivation.

Really looking forward to the break at the end of this week. Want to go on a vacation. Even thought I just got back from one. Haha…

Two papers down, three to go…

13th : NOOO!!!

Its confirmed. Kimi Raikkonen, My favourite F1 driver, is leaving Ferrari. Gosh… He will be replaced by Fernando Alonso. Whats worse, Raikkonen has yet to confirm his plans for 2010. He might just leave F1 for good. Not good.

I don’t understand. Why not replace his teammate, Felipe Massa instead? Raikkonen is clearly out-performing him.

I guess you just can’t have two world champions in one team. A highly combustible combination. Haha… Or is just might be that fire (Alonso) and ice (Kimi) just can’t mix.

Even if Raikkonen does retire from F1, which I hope he doesn’t, I will still have someone to support next season. That someone, or something for this case, is none other than Malaysia’s very own Formula One team, Lotus F1. Wooo!!!

Its so cool that Malaysia will be competing in F1 so soon. A major surprise. This would definitely put Malaysia on the map. I really hope this would not just end up as another big waste of money as Malaysia is famous for that.

Worse case scenario : The team runs into a financial dilemma and ends up being sold/shut down.

Best case scenario : The team hires Kimi Raikkonen as their driver. Haha!!!
